The opportunities for service

This week has been great! Count your miracles one, by one. Every
person I see on the street is a child of God. My companion and I have
such a desire to speak to everyone that it takes us 45 minutes to walk
a street, whereas others of the world busily pass us by and walk it in
10 minutes.
I recently wrote of our goal to talk to 31 people and then we get to
celebrate at Baskin Robins, which they call 31. Well we were so busy
we didn’t go right away, and then yesterday while walking back and I
just felt like we should go. My companion felt the same, so we went.
We sat down with our ice cream and there was only a couple people in
sight. The tables were awkward arranged making it hard to start a
conversation from so far away. We saw two high school students
studying English! So naturally my companion and I started speaking in
English and reviewed our plans for the day, then brought up a
conversation with the two girls. We then offered to help them with
their studies. They wanted help learning the pronunciation of the
words. After that service we were able to share what we are doing in
Japan and leave them with spiritual messages. The girl I was helping
wanted to know if she can really learn English and become fluent. I
told her the best thing to do is listen to English speakers; we
watched videos via iPad. It was wonderful feeling to see
something light up in her face. My companion was able to talk about
the 2,000 stripling warriors with the other girl (I’m still not sure
how that came up in the conversation). Then we started talking about
their homework again and in their ethics book was a chapter dedicated
to Christianity and Jesus Christ. We asked if they knew anything about
Christ; they said no. We left them with a promise and two copies of
the Book of Mormon that if they want to know  of Jesus Christ, this is
the book to read.

This week I’ve really been working on applying the scriptures to my
life. Here is a part that I liked.

2 Nephi 33:3-10
3 But I, Nephi, have written what I have written, and I esteem it as
of great worth, and especially unto my people. For I pray continually
for them by day, and mine eyes water my pillow by night, because of
them; and I cry unto my God in faith, and I know that he will hear my
I know that the message I have is of great worth. It answers all
the questions of the soul.
Why are we here? Where are we going? What is after this life?   I
love the people in Japan
and I pray every night for God to bless the people in my area. I
know that God hears
   Everyone’s prayers.

4 And I know that the Lord God will consecrate my prayers for the gain
of my people. And the words which I have written in weakness will be
made strong unto them; for it persuadeth them to do good; it maketh
known unto them of their fathers; and it speaketh of Jesus, and
persuadeth them to believe in him, and to endure to the end, which is
life eternal.
I may be terrible at Japanese, but God is perfect. His plan is
perfect, and the
spirit will take my simple message to the hearts of the people because it
persuadeth them to do good. To follow Christ’s example and to endure to the

5 And it speaketh harshly against sin, according to the plainness of
the truth; wherefore, no man will be angry at the words which I have
written save he shall be of the spirit of the devil.
We teach God’s commandments because if we follow the commandments we
will be better people and we will be worthy of the greatest
blessings of heaven.

6 I glory in plainness; I glory in truth; I glory in my Jesus, for he
hath redeemed my soul from hell.
I am so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ. I get to wear his
name over my heart
every day as I procelyte and find people willing to hear my message. That
message is that Christ lives! He was born on this earth, he
established his
church, he suffered for our sins (we call it the atonement), he
died for us on the
cross, after three days he was resurrected. He has a perfected
body and he will live
forever and ever. Through his Atonement we can receive healing
and peace, forgiveness,
and the greatest gift of all, even eternal life.

7 I have charity for my people, and great faith in Christ that I shall
meet many souls spotless at his judgment-seat.
I have a great love for the people in the area I serve. The ward
members are amazing, I
am so blessed to be called to serve them. I may not get to see
them all again in this life,
but I have a perfect faith and hope at I will see them in the
life to come. I pray that we can
all live worthy and return to our Father in Heaven and our Savior
Jesus Christ.

8 I have charity for the Jew–I say Jew, because I mean them from whence I came.
I love my family and friends back home.

9 I also have charity for the Gentiles. But behold, for none of these
can I hope except they shall be reconciled unto Christ, and enter into
the narrow gate, and walk in the strait path which leads to life, and
continue in the path until the end of the day of probation.
I love the people I meet on the street everyday. I have faith that
I will find people that will
learn of the gospel that brings much happiness, and follow the
path that Christ has set.
Have Faith, Repent ( by learning to live God’s Commandments),
enter the waters of
baptism which is the gate to eternal life, from that point we
continually learn. To be
baptized you don’t have to be perfect, but you do have to be
worthy. You also need a
believe in Christ and have a desire to follow him.

10 And now, my beloved brethren, and also Jew, and all ye ends of the
earth, hearken unto these words and believe in Christ; and if ye
believe not in these words believe in Christ. And if ye shall believe
in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of
Christ, and he hath given them unto me; and they teach all men that
they should do good.
I really like this verse! We had an investigator who was searching
many churches to find
truth. They all told her you need to get baptized because we are
telling you this is the
truth. She hated that, so she’d start investigating another church
until that same problem
raised. Her friend, a member of the church, invited her to many
church activities and
eventually asked her if she’d like to meet with the missionaries.
She is now learning the
answers to her questions through personally studying the Book of
Mormon, Prayer,
Attending Church, and hearing the missionary lessons. She is now a
progressing in her
journey for truth and has decided to enter the waters of baptism.

We believe in personal revelation, we believe in studying it our in
our minds, we
believe that God is our Eternal Father and he hears and answers
all of our prayers. If you
want to know if this is true, ask God the Eternal Father in the
Name of Jesus Christ. My
favorite part of the Book of Mormon is the Introduction page, the
whole page is
wonderfully penned, if you don’t have time to read the whole
thing, I invite you to read the
last two paragraphs of it. I know that you can always strengthen
your testimony in the
savior, and every time you ask you will get an answer every time.
